Looking for the perfect waterfront dining spot at Walt Disney World in Orlando? The Boathouse at Disney Springs is one of the most popular restaurants in this vibrant Disney shopping and entertainment district — and after several visits, we can absolutely see why.
Location and atmosphere
The Boathouse is located in The Landing area of Disney Springs — the waterfront hub known for some of the best dining spots in all of Walt Disney World. Having opened in 2015, The Boathouse has fast become a firm favourite for its buzzing evening atmosphere, delicious seafood and steaks, and prime lakeside location.
Step inside and you’re greeted with a nautical, vintage-yacht vibe: dark wood panelling, quirky décor (yes, some diners really do sit inside a vintage car-boat), and a lively crowd that makes the space hum with energy. It’s fun, bold, and very Disney — but with a more refined twist than family-centric venues like T Rex or Rainforest Café (both owned by the same restaurant group).
Our tip: It’s a big, busy restaurant with several dining rooms, so expect a noisy backdrop, especially in the evenings. If you’re after a quieter meal, try lunchtime or an earlier dinner slot.
Food and menu: What we ate

The Boathouse specialises in American seafood, steak, and burgers, with a broad and crowd-pleasing menu. Whether you’re in the mood for oysters, a hearty burger, or fresh fish tacos, you’ll likely find something that tempts you.
As you’re seated, you’re welcomed with a basket of buttery brioche bread — dangerously moreish and very hard to resist.
Starters
- Yellowfin Tuna Poke: This was the outstanding starter of the trip — fresh, zingy, and delicately marinated in lime with avocado and mango. In fact, I go to The Boathouse just so I can eat this! It’s served with tortilla chips for a little crunch. Absolutely delicious.
- Maine Lobster Bisque: A classic done well — creamy, rich but not too heavy and a nice warm temperature, served with a little packet of salted crackers on the side. A lovely option if you want something comforting but refined.

Mains
- Grilled Mahi Tacos: Light (for an American portion), fresh and flavoursome. However, the tortilla chips on the side were a little too salty for our liking.
- Boathouse Classic Cheeseburger: This is not for the faint-hearted – a juicy burger patty, piled high with lettuce and tomatoes and coated with melted cheese with a lot of fries on the side. My husband loved it, but it’s definitely one to tackle with a big appetite.
- Pan-roasted Corvina: Corvina is a white, flaky fish, that sits somewhere between cod and sea bass. This one was served with delicious, crispy Yukon potatoes and a buttery soubise – a rich, onion-based sauce.

- Cedar Planked Faroe Islands Salmon: The salmon was beautifully cooked, with a lovely smoky taste from the cedar plank. It was paired with tricolor baby carrots, broccolini, and a light lemon vinaigrette. The carrots weren’t as tender as we would have liked but it’s definitely a good option if you prefer something lighter (or want to save room for dessert!)
- Kids’ Chicken Tenders: Served in a fun cardboard car-shaped tray, which our son absolutely loved. Great for keeping little diners entertained.

Desserts
- Key Lime Pie: Delicious but massive. You’ve been warned.
- Blackberry cheesecake: Similarly huge and topped with a mountain of Chantilly cream. If you don’t have a huge appetite, this is maybe best shared.
What We Didn’t Love
- Maine-Style Lobster Roll: We found this a little plain and served cold — more of a lunch sandwich than a satisfying dinner dish.

Outdoor dining and entertainment
If you’re lucky enough to snag a table outside on the terrace, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the Disney Springs lake — and possibly even catch the live band that often plays nearby (usually belting out 80s hits – think Tears for Fears and A-ha- with infectious energy). It’s a really fun way to soak up the atmosphere.

Amphicars at The Boathouse: A one-of-a-kind experience
One of the coolest features of The Boathouse (and definitely something you don’t want to miss) are the Amphicars — vintage, restored cars that drive right into the water! These amphibious vehicles offer a fun and quirky way to experience the Disney Springs lake.
For an extra charge, you can hop into one of the Amphicars and take a guided tour around the lake. It’s not just a unique way to enjoy the views — it’s an Instagram-worthy moment and a great photo op.
Family friendly… But with a grown-up edge
While The Boathouse is suitable for families — especially with the fun kids’ meals and quirky decor — it leans more towards grown-up dining than T Rex and Rainforest Café – other Disney Springs restaurants owned by the same group. For more on these, browse our picks in: Six Restaurants We Love at Disney Springs. Think of it as the older sibling— still fun, but a bit more stylish.
Don’t miss the shop
Just next door is The Boathouse Boutique, where you can browse branded gear, nautical-themed gifts, jewellery, and more. Worth a stop if you’ve fallen for the vibe.
Is The Boathouse worth it?
Yes – especially if you love seafood, great service, and a bit of energy with your meal. The Boathouse delivers on flavour, fun, and fantastic views. While it can get noisy, the atmosphere is infectious, and the menu caters to all ages and appetites. It is busy, so if you prefer a calmer dining experience, maybe look at other options.
