Is now the best time to book a Disney World holiday?

Fireworks over the Disney castle

That feeling of booking a holiday to Walt Disney World is a truly magical one, but the shine can quickly wear away if you feel you’ve overpaid.

Book at the wrong time and you could pay hundreds more for the exact same Walt Disney World holiday. But by booking at the right time, you can land right at the moment when multiple cheaper flights are on offer – and get a great deal on your Disney holiday to boot. This guide breaks down exactly when that sweet spot falls each year – and how to use it.

Each year, Disney builds in several offers to its bookings timetable, so you want to make sure you pick up at least one of these if you can.

The free Quick Service Dining Plan deal (Disney’s free food offer) is one of the most reliable ways to save. It typically launches around Easter each year, at a time when more flights come on to the market and prices drop.

But here’s the catch: our data shows prices often stay high for a few weeks after the deal launches. Since the offer usually runs for several months, it can pay to hold off rather than book on day one. Our research (see below) points to six to nine months before travel as the booking sweet spot – though if you’re paying in instalments, six months leaves less time to spread the cost.

Will Disney World be cheaper in 2026?

That means, at present, this is a great time to book Walt Disney World holidays in 2026 for Easter and Summer 2027, as the Free Dining Plan Deal and flight availability mean some 2027 prices are actually cheaper those we saw in 2024. Scroll down to see our cost breakdown for more information.

When is the best and cheapest time to travel to Walt Disney World (and when should you avoid)?

  • If you don’t have kids (and assuming you don’t work at a school), the best times to secure cheap tickets are outside school holidays.
  • If you need to travel during school holidays, as most families do, the summer can offer the best deals (although temperatures in Florida can be very high at this time). Travelling midweek, rather than at the weekend, can also save you money on flights if you’re able to do this.
  • We also noticed October could be a tricky time to secure good deals – this is because it’s a very popular time to holiday in the US, thanks to Halloween.

Tips to get the best value on your Disney World holiday

Here are some practical ways to improve your booking results:

  • If you’re eyeing a budget hotel, be prepared to hold out for cheaper deals. There are a lot of standard rooms available at the All Star sites, which gives you a better chance of securing one of the cheapest rooms alongside a good deal. Check back on prices regularly and keep a particular eye out on bank holidays and special occasions, as this can mean there are price drops.
  • However, at moderate or deluxe resorts, these standard rooms can disappear quickly. This means that even if you secure a great deal – such as a free Disney Dining Plan – you might not save as much money because you may end up shelling out for a more expensive room.

You can get round this by:

  • Secure your room at the start of the year and add on a flight later, as cheaper flights become available. It’s worth setting up flight alerts with Google Flights or Skyscanner to track the best prices. If deals such as free dining become available later in the year, Disney can sometimes apply them to existing bookings if your stay qualifies.
  • Looking at different airport options – Heather from UK Disney Magic chose to fly to Tampa for her recent Florida holiday, as this proved cheaper than Orlando, while Jenny has flown to Sanford, another quieter Orlando airport.
  • Being more flexible over your choice of hotel. We selected the Coronado Springs as our moderate hotel for this exercise but, while availability of standard rooms there could be limited at popular times, there were some great deals available at other comparable hotels, such as the Port Orleans Riverside. And, of course, you can save money by not staying on Disney property (although, if you’re able to budget for it, we would definitely recommend doing so in Florida – each hotel is beautifully themed and you get benefits such as Disney’s free transportation service).

Snapshot: How Walt Disney World prices are looking this year

We’ve been keeping an eye on prices on the Disneyholidays.co.uk site this year to give you an idea of the kind of offers we’ve seen come up and the pricing that’s available on flights and rooms at different times.

All flight prices shown are based on journeys from London Heathrow to Orlando International Airport, which is the main gateway for Walt Disney World holidays, but it’s definitely worth comparing prices from other UK airports.

All prices were checked for two adults and one child, aged under 10 and we picked times that coincided with most British school holidays (for October half term, we chose times in parts of the UK that have a two-week break at that time).

Because this is a snapshot take, monitoring prices on a single day, there are no guarantees you will also find these prices and deals, but at least it will give you some idea and points of comparison as to pricing.

Looking back at our own tracking, booking Easter 2025 in July 2024 cost £8,951 at a value resort like All-Star, or £11,289 at a moderate resort like Coronado Springs. Booking Easter 2027 now, by contrast, comes in at £7,289 and £8,678 respectively – a saving of more than £2,600 at moderate resorts.

Of course, you may discover different offers and prices on other sites – Virgin Holidays, for example – so it’s definitely worth shopping around before you book.

What this shows

Our take:
July–September 2026 is a tale of two booking strategies. If you’re travelling in late 2026, the best prices are harder to find – although strong flight availability helps keep costs down. The lack of major offers means popular periods such as Christmas and October can still be expensive.

However, this becomes one of the strongest booking windows we’ve seen for 2027 holidays. The Free Dining & Drinks offer dramatically improves value, particularly at moderate resorts such as Coronado Springs. Easter 2027 stands out as the best deal in this snapshot, combining good flight availability with significant savings.

For October 2027, our advice would be to wait. With only one flight available and no offers currently attached, there is little benefit to booking this early.

Our take:
April–June 2026 is a mixed booking window. For 2026 travel, you’re generally booking too late to access the best deals – while flight availability is strong (especially for summer), the lack of major offers limits overall savings.

However, this window becomes much more interesting for 2027 holidays. Free dining and package discounts start to appear, and for the first time we see moderate resorts like Coronado Springs competing with – or even undercutting – value resorts on total price. Summer 2027 in particular offers strong overall value, despite more limited flight availability.

Our take: January – March 2026 is a strong booking window for Easter and summer travel if there are decent flight options. Easter 2026 currently stands out as the best-value period, thanks to a rare combination of flight availability, cash discounts and free dining for children.

By contrast, Christmas 2026 and Easter 2027 bookings made this early are poor value. Limited flights and weak offers mean you’re paying a premium without gaining flexibility or meaningful savings.

Our take: October–December 2025 is a brilliant time to book if you’re targeting Easter or summer 2026 travel and can take advantage of Disney’s free dining offer. Summer 2026 stands out as the strongest option overall, combining the widest choice of flights with the biggest savings – particularly for value and moderate resorts.

By contrast, booking Christmas 2025 holidays this late offers very poor value. Despite decent room availability at value resorts, high flight prices and a lack of offers mean costs are dramatically higher than other periods. October 2026 also underperforms, with limited flights and no dining deal pushing up the overall price.
