Our 10 favourite Disney snacks (plus 2 from the past)

Sure, the rides and magical atmosphere draw you in – but let’s be honest, for many visitors, the food comes very close behind.

Snacks – whether hot or cold, savoury or sweet – are the perfect way to taste a bit of everything without breaking the bank.

In fact, if you’ve got a Disney Dining Plan, daily “snack credits” can cover ice cream, popcorn, pretzels, and sweet treats, making them effectively “free” on your holiday — heaven for any foodie. For more on how the Disney Dining plan works, read our posts on Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it? and Our honest experience using the Disney Dining Plan.

And don’t forget the Epcot Food & Wine Festival each summer, where kiosks around the World Showcase Lagoon serve international bites — often marked with a purple-and-white check to show they count as a Dining Plan snack.

Ready to see our top picks? Let’s dive in and find your next Disney snack obsession.

1) Funnel cakes

Heather with funnel cake

Here’s Heather from UK Disney Magic tucking into a funnel cake at Epcot. Funnel cake is a WDW classic and can be found at Epcot’s Epic Eats, Sleepy Hollow at Magic Kingdom and at the Funnel Cake Cart in Epcot’s America in the World Showcase.

It is a delicious fried batter swirled into a circular cake-like shape and can be simply served simply with a bit of icing sugar or topped with ice cream and other decadent toppings. Here Heather is sampling the cookies and cream version – with a sprinkling of gold dust to celebrate WDW’s 50th. It’s definitely worth trying at least once on your visit!

2) Gelato from Epcot’s Italy

Ever since we can remember, there’s been a tiny gelato stand by the edge of the World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot.

What once was a blink-and-you’d-miss-it cart with a donkey (not a real one!) has evolved into a charming walk-up window tucked into the corner of Italy – the perfect spot to pause for a scoop (or two!) of creamy, authentic gelato.

With flavours ranging from rich chocolate and pistachio to zesty fruit sorbets, it’s a refreshing escape from the Florida heat. The lemon gelato, in particular, is the ultimate palate cleanser after exploring half the world – tangy, cool, and just sweet enough.

So take a seat, soak up the Italian vibes and let those icy, citrusy scoops melt away the miles you’ve walked.

3) Mickey Mouse Cookies and Cream Sandwich

Mickey Ics 1

Another classic frozen Disney treat that’s been around since childhood — and thankfully, it’s still going strong! You’ll now find these sweet favourites at outlets across the parks, including spots in Fantasyland and Epcot, as well as resort snack carts.

It’s hard to put your finger on exactly what makes them so irresistible. Maybe it’s that they’re not quite like anything you’d have at home – the cookies have a soft, Oreo-like texture that might surprise first-timers, but the cocoa flavour perfectly balances the creamy vanilla ice cream inside.

And of course, the best part? It’s shaped like Mickey! ❤️ Sometimes you’ll find them outside Imagination, sometimes in Mexico, sometimes somewhere entirely new — part of their magic is that they can pop up anywhere.

Simple, nostalgic, and utterly Disney. What’s not to love?

4) Salted popcorn

Given that you can now buy a bucket of popcorn in almost every British supermarket or multiplex, it might seem an odd choice for a favourite Disney snack. But for me, popcorn at Disney is about so much more than the snack itself — it’s a memory.

When I was little, savoury popcorn was a complete novelty. Growing up, we only ever had the sweet, glazed kind in my part of the UK (we were very deprived!). My very first taste of salted popcorn came at the Magic Kingdom when I was about nine. My family each dug a paw into the bucket, popped some in our mouths… and immediately felt like we’d swallowed the sea.

Despite that inauspicious salty first impression, it quickly became one of my all-time favourites – and because I tried it first at Disney, it’s forever tied to that moment of discovery. There’s still something special about grabbing a warm, buttery bucket on Main Street, U.S.A. and watching the world go by. Simple, nostalgic, and perfectly Disney.

5) Pineapple DOLE Whips

Pineapple Dole Whip at Walt Disney World

These creamy, fruity soft-serve treats used to be purely an Adventureland classic — sold from a counter near the Jungle Cruise called Aloha Isle. But on our last visit, we were pleased to find DOLE whips sold at other Walt Disney World locations — from Swirls on the Water at Disney Springs to Tamu Tamu at Animal Kingdom – and in a rainbow of flavours, including orange, strawberry, and raspberry.

But here’s the thing: the original pineapple DOLE Whip is where it all began, and it’s still an absolute must-try. Soft, creamy, and perfectly tropical, it’s like a burst of sunshine in dessert form.

If you’ve never had one before, imagine pineapple juice whipped into a frozen, creamy swirl – refreshing yet rich, and often with a little pool of juice left at the bottom of the cup to slurp when you’re done. Bliss on a hot Florida day!

A true Disney icon that’s as timeless as the parks themselves.

6) Macarons

Macarons at Walt Disney World

This is a treat for the Disneyland Paris die-hards… the tiny French almond and sugar concoctions that are light as air are highly prized by visitors to Paris.

These pretty pastel-coloured snacks, decorated with tiny Disney emblems such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, or the Sleeping Beauty Castle, come in flavours including chocolate, salted caramel, raspberry and lemon.

They are on sale at Boardwalk Candy Palace on Main Street – though do check availability, as the selection can vary. You can also find a version, minus the decor, in the France pavilion at Epcot in Walt Disney World.

7) Grilled corn on the cob

Ha – you didn’t think I was going to include any “healthy” snacks such as fruit or veg, did you? The truth is, Disney’s take on fruit can be a little… unappetising. Apples come wrapped in cellophane and, once you’ve unwrapped them, they don’t taste of much. If you can get your hands on some fresh Florida‑grown produce such as oranges (of course!) or watermelon though, you’ll be in for a treat – the watermelon in particular is like eating a drink. You’ll find these at some of the hotel buffet breakfasts, so keep an eye out.

In the parks, head over to Harambe Fruit Market in Animal Kingdom for something a bit different: grilled corn on the cob, often brushed with butter and sprinkled with African‑style spices (or unspiced if you prefer). It’s a delicious, savoury break from all the ice cream and biscuits I’ve recommended — and yes, it counts as a snack on the Dining Plan.

8) Mickey beignets

Mickey beignets with raspberry dipping sauce

These powderpuff-light Mickey-shaped mouthfuls are famously associated with the Port Orleans Resort at Walt Disney World, although you can also find a Tiana version at the Golden Oak Outpost at the Magic Kingdom.

They’re fluffy on the inside, dusted generously with icing sugar, and guaranteed to leave you smiling (and probably a little sugar-dusted yourself!).

Now, we know this might be controversial… but dare we say it? These sweet clouds of joy are even more amazing with a little dipping sauce. At the Port Orleans’ Sassagoula Floatworks outlet, they come with chocolate, caramel or raspberry. Tiana’s version is drizzled with honey but we wouldn’t say no to a little extra sauce!

Have you tried a Mickey beignet before? Would you add a sauce, or keep them pure Disney perfection?

9) Mickey pretzels

From the sweetest snacks to the saltiest — a warm, golden-brown Mickey-shaped pretzel is the ultimate park pick-me-up! Soft, chewy, and sprinkled with just the right amount of salt, it’s a fan-favourite that never goes out of style.

You’ll find them at snack carts all around the parks, often served with a side of creamy cheese sauce (and sometimes even mustard for those who like a little tang). There’s something so satisfying about taking a break, finding a shady spot, and sharing this classic Disney treat — if you can bring yourself to share, that is!

Simple, iconic, and unmistakably Disney – a Mickey pretzel is pure magic in snack form.

10) Churros

Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and dusted generously with cinnamon sugar – churros are a Disney Parks staple for good reason. You’ll find them at carts all over the parks, often served with chocolate or caramel dipping sauces if you’re feeling indulgent.

There’s something magical about holding a warm churro while wandering down Main Street, watching the world go by, and sneaking bites as you go. Sweet, portable, and perfect for sharing (if you’re willing), churros are a simple snack that never goes out of style.

And to take a stroll down memory lane (and as part of a two-women campaign to revive them!), here are a couple of our favourites from the past:

Magic Cookie Bar

These might not have vanished entirely, but they’re definitely elusive. We used to devour them at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort bakery counter in the Riverside Mill Food Court – only to discover they weren’t on sale there during our last visit.

Rumour has it they’ve made an appearance at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, but exact timings can be mysterious. I’ll never forget asking the bakery staff for the secret of their success — and leaning in, she whispered, “It’s the mixture of coconut flakes AND butterscotch chips, hon.”

Fingers crossed they return to Port Orleans soon so you can taste exactly what she meant.

Lemonberry Swirl Ice Cream

This dreamy treat hasn’t been seen since Disney Springs was known as Disney Village, but I can honestly say it was the best ice cream I ever snacked on at Disney.

The site that’s now Goofy’s Candy Company used to house an ice cream shop serving a delicious range of flavours – including this unforgettable blueberry-and-lemon swirl. The sweetness of the blueberry perfectly balanced the citrusy sharpness of the lemon, and the texture was light, refreshing, and almost sorbet-like.

I’ve been waiting 30 years for Disney to bring it back… and so far, no luck. If anyone has a recipe, do send it my way! 💛
