This 2027 Disney Free Dining quirk makes moderate resorts cheaper than budget hotels

Disney's Coronado Springs

If you’re planning a Walt Disney World holiday for 2027, there’s an unusual pricing quirk you need to know about.

At certain times of year – around Easter 2027 – you can actually get a moderate Disney resort for less than a budget resort once free dining is included.

This means you could stay at a moderate resort – such as Disney’s Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside – for less than the price of a standard room at an All-Star Resort, once the Free Dining & Drinks deal has been factored in.

We’ve been studying Disney pricing for years and we’ve never seen this happen before.

When moderate resorts beat budget resorts

Easter 2027 is the key window – this is when the pricing flips, thanks to Disney’s Free Dining & Drinks offer, which was released on Tuesday 21 April.

During Easter 2027:

  • Free dining is not widely available on standard rooms at budget resorts
  • Guests often need to upgrade room type to qualify
  • Moderate resorts include dining more consistently

This creates a rare situation where a package with a standard room at a moderate resort costs less overall than a standard room at a budget resort, when free dining is included.

Why is this happening?

When Disney released its 2027 Free Dining & Drinks Deal, we found they’d made some changes.

While guests at budget resorts used to get one quick-service meal per person per night as part of their free dining deal, this now appears to have changed for 2027.

Instead, guests in premium rooms at budget resorts get access to the Quick-Service Dining Plan, which gives you two free meals a day, plus drinks and snacks – the same plan widely available at moderate resorts.

However, for Easter 2027, guests in some standard rooms at budget resorts are currently unable to access the free dining deal.

This quirk is very specific to Easter 2027 and it’s important to remember the pricing can change quickly. Even in the few days since the offer launched, we’ve already seen availability shift with standard rooms at both All-Star Music and All-Star Sports now showing with the free dining offer included.

The Easter holiday period is traditionally a very high-demand period, as the holiday period for UK and US schools coincides and these restrictions currently only appear to apply at this popular time of year.

But budget resorts can still be cheaper

It’s important to be clear: budget resorts haven’t suddenly become poor value.

At Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort:

  • Preferred room with free dining: ~£8,494
➡️ This is still cheaper than a standard room at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort with dining included (which came in at £9,408)
  • Standard room without dining: ~£8,266
➡️ This is also cheaper than Coronado Springs if you skip the dining plan entirely

So while moderates can undercut budgets in some comparisons, value resorts remain the cheapest option in many scenarios. The comparison only applies if we are comparing standard rooms at both budget and moderate hotels. But given the price difference between a preferred room at an All-Star and a standard room at Coronado Springs is £914, you may think it’s a good time to pay extra for a moderate hotel experience.

All of our pricing is based on two adults and one child, with flights from London Heathrow to Orlando and a 14-day Magic Ticket included.

Outside Easter: normal pricing returns

Looking at January and February 2027:

  • Disney’s Pop Century Resort from ~£6,452 (with free dining)
  • Disney’s All-Star Music Resort from ~£6,756 (with free dining)

Compared to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside:

  • £7,500–£8,400 range with larger savings applied

➡️ Result: Budget resorts are clearly cheaper again, even if moderates offer stronger overall package value.

What this means for your 2027 booking

A Disney resort room

If you’re comparing Disney holidays for 2027, there are some things you should keep in mind.

Our analysis has found that if getting a Disney trip at the cheapest possible price is your priority, budget resorts such as Pop Century and the All-Star resorts still win most of the time.

However, if you want the dining plan included with minimal hassle, moderate resorts may offer better value, especially during Easter 2027. For more on whether the Disney Dining Plan actually saves you money, read our guide is the Disney Dining Plan worth it?

Finally, if you’re booking for Easter 2027, make sure you compare both budget and moderate resorts carefully – don’t assume the value destinations are always the cheapest.

So what’s the takeaway for 2027 Disney bookings?

Disney’s 2027 UK deals have introduced a subtle but important shift.

Moderate resorts can be cheaper than budget resorts – but only in specific situations, and usually when dining is included.

Outside of peak periods, the traditional pricing structure still applies.

But during Easter 2027, it’s worth double-checking everything – because the “obvious” cheapest option might not actually be the best value.
